About Us

About Us

Millions of women swooned over Colin Firth in the wet shirt scene in the classic BBC production of Jane’s Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. In 2007 we turned our personal passion into a business and now give you the chance to step into the world of period drama adaptations.

Your tour guides are production expert Helen Porter, and Hazel Jones who is an acclaimed authority on Jane Austen and the Regency period.

Helen says, ‘The BBC 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle has proved to be the standard by which all other period dramas on TV and film are judged. There is still a huge fan-base for all things connected with Mr Darcy’s wet shirt, and the architectural stars of the production. In the current downturn we’ve found people see this as the perfect escapist holiday in the UK.”

We spend months researching the locations used in the films, including 1995 Persuasion and Emma Thompson’s applauded film version of Sense & Sensibility. Helen says, “In a way finding the houses and locations is the easy part. But then we research anecdotes from the people who were around when filming took place, and find high quality hotels and suppliers who understand what we are about. We’ve concentrated on attention to detail – our tours are small and personal and we’re providing every luxury.”

Wherever possible the tours offer accommodation in actual filming locations, with many added extras that the average solo traveller would be hard pushed to find. With private dinner in Lizzie’s home at Longbourn, and afternoon tea at Hunsford Parsonage, we offer access to areas closed to the public. Juicy gossip, memorabilia and Colin Firth prizes ensure there’s something for the most passionate fan.”

Stay in the period

On all our tours we make sure that you stay in hand-chosen quality accommodation. Our hotels and inns are as close to the period as possible, often with quirky historical backgrounds. We are committed to the personal touch. You will stay in a selection of fascinating rooms – some with four poster beds, or stunning views, or Tudor casements, or even rooms used by the film crews.

We love to help you plan your holiday. Look on our FAQ page for some useful tips, and then email us with anything you need to ask.
