Your guide; Hazel Jones has been an expert on Jane Austen for most of her adult life and became an addict after she fell in love with Henry Tilney at eleven years old, although she has since been unfaithful to him with Mr Darcy. She has written a book on marriage in Jane Austen’s time, Jane Austen and Marriage (Continuum, 2009). This draws on Jane Austen’s novels and letters and contemporary texts such as diaries and newspapers.
Hazel taught English at Exeter University, specializing in Jane Austen and as well as being a guide for P&P Tours she continues to organize residential courses for adults at various venues in the UK.
Hazel’s latest book is Celebrating Pride and Prejudice, 200 Years of Jane Austen’s Darling Child, written with Maggie Lane.
2013 marks the 200th anniversary of the first publication of Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen’s best-loved novel. To mark this special occasion Hazel Jones and Maggie Lane have written this beautifully illustrated 64-page book looking at the history and legacy of the work that Jane Austen called her “darling child”.
